About

This blog is pretty much a direct clone of David Latour's blog, as I'm taking this class over from him.

Fortunately for all of us, he did a great job of fleshing it out with a lot of great information as well as a really organized format to share info. He also revamped this class several years ago into a really effective format for learning the basics of acting.

I'm looking forwards to seeing everyone's progress in this class - this is one of my favorite classes to teach, as we finally get to go all out with bringing characters to life.

I currently work at Pocket Gems, animating for mobile platforms. Having spent most of my animation career in the games industry, I've also worked for companies such as Activision, Sega, LucasArts, among others, for the past 16-17 years.  For those of you that are doing the math, that means back in the day when $3000 would get you a blazing fast 80mhz.

As realtime playback was next to impossible, I ended up learning to animate by drawing out timed key poses on paper, that I would later construct in whatever 3d program I was using at the time. What I didn't realize at the time was that it forced me into a workflow of planning, something that came in really handy with digital acting.
